  • 10 tbsp butter
  • 1 1/2 cups dark chocolate chips
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • Candy eyes for decoration
  • 20 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips (for coating)
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
  • 2–3 tbsp heavy cream (to thin the icing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a 9 x 9 inch cake pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt butter with dark chocolate chips until smooth. Stir in sugars until dissolved.
  3. Beat eggs until frothy and combine with melted chocolate mixture, adding vanilla extract.
  4. Gently fold in flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until just combined; then fold in remaining chocolate chips.
  5. Spread batter evenly in the prepared pan and bake for 25–30 minutes. Cool before cutting into squares.
  6. Melt additional chocolate chips with coconut oil for coating. Dip brownies in melted chocolate and chill until set.
  7. For decoration, mix powdered sugar with cream to achieve desired consistency and pipe on crisscross patterns; add candy eyes.
